Dehradun, 8 Mar: The famous Jhanda Mela of Dehradun will commence from 9 March. On 12 March, the flag will be hoisted at the Darbar Sahab in the presence of Mahant Devendra Das and lakhs of devotees.
Already, there is a substantial influx of devotees from outside Dehradun and Uttarakhand to attend the Jhanda Mela and the flag-hoisting ceremony on 12 March. Organizers have pitched 250 tents in Matawala Bagh to accommodate the visitors.
It may be recalled that the Jhanda Mela is organised each year to celebrate the birth anniversary of Guru Ram Rai and this year, too, the Darbar Sahab will be decorated beautifully.
Each year, the Jhanda Mela is visited by people from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, besides Canada, USA, England, Dubai and other countries.
