Cong set for big win, says Almora MP

Pithoragarh January 22
Almora MP Pradeep Tamta today claimed that the Congress is all set to win a clear majority in Uttarakhand Assembly with greater number of seats from Kumaon region. “Even in the 14 seats of Almora parliamentary constituency, we are winning nearly 12 seats this time compared to 6 in the last elections,” said Tamta.
The Almora MP said this became evident after witnessing the mass turnout at the meetings of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi at Dehradun, Haldwani and Almora. “The public meeting of Rahul Gandhi, proposed on January 24 in Pithoragarh, will boost the morale of Congress workers further,” said Tamta.
The Congress MP said that in Kumaon region, the impact the Jan Aakrosh Yatra, organised by him last year between January 30 and February 5, from Deghat to Jhoolaghat to expose the ill-doings of the BJP Government, is visible on the masses in the region. “The people of Kumaon will remember that the BJP Government has not only stopped the development of the region in last five years but has also not let any project approved by the Congress from the Centre take off by blocking the procedures of their functioning,” he alleged.
