Dehradun, Dec 7: Police beefed up security measures in Dehradun, ahead of the Passing out Parade at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) located in the city.
Top district police brass disclosed this to the mediapersons at Dehradun on Tuesday.
The Passing out Parade, scheduled on 10th December this year, is the most awaited event at the IMA when hundreds of cadets are commissioned as officers in the Indian Army.
Jaswant Singh, Superintendent of Police, said considering the presence of chief guest who will take the salute and numerous other VIPs attending the event, the Uttarakhand Police has tightened the security to avoid any untoward incident.
“IMA passing out parade is scheduled for 10th. This is a very important event and holds great importance for Dehradun. VVIPs come for the ceremony to take salute at the Passing out Parade. Thus keeping this in mind we have made good arrangements for security,” said Singh.
Further he noted that the deployment of security personnel all over Dehradun had literally turned the city into a fortress.
“All necessary security measures are being taken care of. We are also monitoring the rehearsals and thus we are confident of security,” Singh added.
All hotels have been thoroughly scanned and strict guidelines have been issued to the hoteliers as for providing accommodation to any person.
Apart from this, barricades have been put up at vantage points and for surveillance and vigilance. (ANI)
